Let’s catch up a bit… Since he took on a massive tour last year, the man’s schedule has been packed, showing no signs of hitting the brakes as he’s kept up with gigs and projects that honor his rock-out legacy. Back in June 2025, a documentary “Billy Idol Should Be Dead” — directed by Jonas Åkerlund, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. Chronicling Billy Idol’s career, it showed his rise from the UK punk scene down to being an MTV icon, that of which where he was considered a prominent figure in the “Second British Invasion” in America. The feature documentary’s title refers to a time when he struggled with near-fatal drug addiction and a severe motorcycle crash in the 1980s and 1990s. Owning his life back, he’s definitely alive and kicking, keeping these legendary bangers on stage.

The film was released in US theaters in February 2026, and started streaming via Hulu in March. 

2025 also saw the release of his first new album in over a decade, “Dream Into It.” Out via Dark Horse Records, the LP hit the seventh spot in the US Top Albums Chart and #4 on the U.S. Current Rock Album Chart. This proves his long dominance in the hard rock scene. At 70 years old, he sure is living his best life.

Idol worked on the album with longtime friend, guitarist, and collaborator, Steve Stevens. It also featured appearances from Lavigne, Joan Jett and Alison Mosshart.
