Primus comes to Isleta Amphitheater on Tuesday 26th May 2020 on the A Tribute To Kings Tour, where the funk-rock band will play the entirety of Rush's album A Farewell to Kings live! Rush is known to be a huge musical influence for frontman Les Claypool and the gang:

“We had started learning the tunes,” Claypool told Rolling Stone. “And I throw in the Cygnus bass teaser every now and then throughout the years. That’s the thing about Rush tunes: The three of us tend to know lots of bits and pieces but very few entire songs because it’s f***in’ Rush; it’s just hard. So it’s always been a common ground for the three of us. In fact, I remember when the three of us first got together, that was one of the things we bonded on as we sat there and jammed on bits and pieces of Rush songs. So the notion of doing the Slayer thing and doing even more of Cygnus seemed like a fun thing to do, so we did it.”

Primus was formed in 1984 in El Sobrante, California by bassist/vocalist Les Claypool and guitarist Todd Huth, and now consists of Claypool, guitarist Larry "Ler" LaLonde and drummer Tim "Herb" Alexander, who both joined the band in 1989 after Huth and previous drummer Jay Lane both left. That year, the trio self-released the live album Suck on This (1989), and went on to record four studio albums together – Frizzle Fry (1990), Sailing the Seas of Cheese (1991), Pork Soda (1993), and Tales from the Punchbowl (1995) – before Alexander left the band in 1996. He was replaced by Bryan "Brain" Mantia, who played with the band when they recorded the original theme song for the TV show South Park and two more albums, Brown Album (1997) and Antipop (1999), before declaring a hiatus in 2000. In 2003, the band came back together with Alexander, who is currently the band's drummer, but who was replaced by original drummer Jay Lane from 2010 – 2013 and during the recording of Green Naugahyde (2011). Known for its zany and tongue-in-cheek songs that combine roots of thrash metal with funk, Primus' unique take on music has inspired countless other bands, particularly within nu-metal. The group's most recent album is 2017's The Desaturating Seven.
